Marjorie Zabala
Sales Assistant
Hi, I’m Marjorie Zabala, but feel free to call me Marj. 😊
I began my career as a Recruitment Sourcing Associate, where I was responsible for sourcing candidates for BPO roles. This experience honed my professional communication skills and improved my attention to detail in data management. Afterwards, I transitioned into a Customer Service Support Representative. I worked my way up from entry-level agent to VIP Agent, Supervisor, and eventually Team Manager. These roles strengthened my leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and capacity to thrive in high-pressure environments.
Now, I am a Sales Assistant for HarveStaff, providing high-level administrative support to ensure client satisfaction and efficient workflow. My responsibilities include managing data, processing job and placement entries, monitoring status updates, coordinating across teams, assisting with candidate screenings, and supporting recruitment activities with accurate and timely information.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is knowing that my work behind the scenes contributes directly to the success of the team and the company. Whether I’m maintaining accurate data, managing job orders, or addressing day-to-day challenges, I feel proud of my contributions and the value my experience brings to my current position.
What I enjoy most about working at HarveStaff is the supportive and collaborative culture. The company values teamwork, and everyone’s contributions are recognized. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a talented team where we can share ideas, solve problems, and celebrate successes together. I also appreciate the growth opportunities HarveStaff offers, including continuous learning and hands-on experience, which have supported my personal and professional development.
In 2025, I have both personal and professional goals that I’m eager to pursue. Professionally, I want to continue developing my skills in data management and client relationship building, while taking on more responsibilities and refining my ability to manage multiple tasks. I’m also interested in exploring cross-functional collaborations to improve processes and contribute to the overall success of HarveStaff.
Personally, as a mother of two, my priority is maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I want to ensure I spend quality time with my family while continuing to meet my professional goals. I’m also committed to personal growth, whether through learning new skills or prioritizing self-care, so I can show up as my best self both at work and at home.
Ultimately, my goal for 2025 is to grow both professionally and personally striking a balance between my career ambitions and family life while making meaningful contributions to HarveStaff’s success.
Joe Sandbrink,Technical Agronomist
HarveStaff Employee Since 2022
Hello! My name is Joe Sandbrink, and I’ve been a proud HarveStaff employee since 2022. I currently work as a Technical Agronomist in partnership with the Bayer Lawn & Garden and Industrial, Turf/Ornamental group based in St. Louis, Missouri.
In my role, I focus on testing and evaluating new herbicide products — especially those marketed under Bayer’s well-known Roundup® brand - to enhance efficacy, compatibility, and user handling. My primary responsibility is to assess these new products in comparison to existing Roundup® formulations and competing commercial products.
A big part of my job is to run field trials on common weed species found throughout the Midwest. Each study includes around 12 different herbicide treatments, with each treatment replicated multiple times to make sure the results are accurate and reliable. We apply these treatments using a boom sprayer and track their performance over time.
Because many of the formulations are designed to work quickly, we often record visual ratings within hours of application, along with photos to capture the results. Then we follow up at 7, 14, and 28 days to see how the products continue to perform. For certain products that also offer residual weed control, I monitor long-term results — sometimes for up to a year — to evaluate how well they prevent new weeds from emerging.
All of the data I collect is shared with Bayer’s Lawn & Garden team and plays a key role in the development of new and improved herbicide options for consumers and professionals.
I really enjoy the hands-on nature of this work and knowing that the research I’m doing helps support better, more effective solutions in the field. It’s a great feeling to be part of something that has a real impact.
— Joe Sandbrink

Building Connections in Carmen and Winnipeg
March 9–12, 2025
HarveStaff’s recent trip to Manitoba proved both productive and inspiring, strengthening relationships and opening doors for future growth.
Carmen Visit – March 10
Rose Smith's, Production Manager, visit began with an in-depth orientation session at Bayer in Carmen, covering key topics such as absence reporting, timekeeping, and equipment usage. Seven returning HarveStaff employees joined twelve new hires for a collaborative training session. Senior employees shared their experiences, setting expectations and encouraging a strong work ethic. After lunch, participants engaged in a hands-on walkthrough of the workspaces, demonstrating curiosity, engagement, and team spirit throughout the day. A highlight of the visit was a conversation with the onsite manager and other client representatives, who expressed appreciation for HarveStaff’s continued partnership and support.
Winnipeg Visit – March 11
The next day, HarveStaff representatives toured the Bayer Winnipeg lab with the onsite manager and HVS contractors, gaining valuable insight into their operations. From there, we visited several prospective clients to expand HVS' footprint in the area.
The day concluded with focused research into prospective partners, using the hotel office space to dive into company histories and leadership profiles.
This trip reinforced HarveStaff’s strong relationships and laid the groundwork for future opportunities. If you know of any potential clients in your area seeking companies to support their staffing efforts, please contact Rose Smith at Rose.Smith@harvestaff.com.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month: You’re Not Alone
Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to remind ourselves that taking care of our mental well-being is just as important as taking care of our physical health. Whether you're on the job site, in the office, or anywhere in between, your mental health matters — every day.
Work can bring its fair share of challenges. Deadlines, long hours, changing environments — they all add up. That’s why it’s so important to know that you're not alone. Asking for help or simply taking a moment to talk things through is a sign of strength, not weakness.
As your Contractor Liaison, I want you to know: I’m here for you. Whether you need someone to talk to, want help navigating a difficult situation, or just need to vent after a long day, my door — and my phone — is always open.
We can also help connect you with additional resources, including mental health professionals or programs available through our company benefits. No problem is too big or too small to bring forward.
This month, and every month, please remember to:
Take breaks when you need them.
Reach out if you’re struggling — even if you're not sure what you need.
Check in on your coworkers. A simple “How’s it going?” can go a long way.
Prioritize sleep, movement, and things that bring you peace.
Let’s work together to build a culture that supports mental well-being — for ourselves and each other.
Need someone to talk to? I’m here.

HarveStaff Champions Community Spirit at Girls' Youth Hockey Tournament by Dianna Kellem
HarveStaff was proud to continue its strong commitment to community engagement by sponsoring girls' youth hockey in Manitoba. The tournament brought together teams from across southwest Manitoba, showcasing incredible talent and sportsmanship. Our local team, the Wolverines, delivered an exciting performance and made a memorable run to the championship game, where they ultimately fell to a tough squad from Portage La Prairie.
Our event booth quickly became a hub of activity. Strategically positioned and visually eye-catching, it provided a warm welcome for athletes and fans as they entered the arena. One of the weekend's standout attractions was our giveaway basket—packed with hockey-themed goodies including a PWHL hoodie and hat, cozy socks, and trading cards. With a “free to enter” format, the contest added a fun and inclusive touch to the festivities.
Between games, players frequently stopped by to grab some HarveStaff swag and enjoy a quick chat. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, support young athletes, and celebrate the passion and energy that youth sports bring to our region.
HarveStaff is honored to be part of such a vibrant and inspiring event, and we look forward to continuing our support for local sports in the future.
Force Volleyball
The 2024-2025 Force Volleyball season has come to an end. This season we had 5 teams ages 13u-17u, with 40 plus female athletes representing Central Iowa. Our club traveled around the state to compete in high level tournaments in Nevada, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Albia, and Ankeny just to name a few. Each age group had a very successful season and finished in the top 3 multiple times throughout our season.
There was SO MUCH growth not only with skill set but understanding of the game this season. We saw our athletes working on personal shortcomings to improve for their team, and in turn build trust in each other so that they can succeed. We are so proud of the work our girls put in this season, and how they represented Force Volleyball in our community.
Our girls were very excited to be training in a new facility this season, City State Bank Field House in Norwalk, Iowa. This was made possible, in large part, to our sponsor HarveStaff! We are forever grateful to have their support in shaping young women's lives both athletically and personally!
2024/2025 was a great season, and Force Volleyball continues to move mountains in the community through an amazing sport. We look forward to a new season, and many more seasons to come!
Coaches,
Maribeth, Krista, Becky, Joleen, Selena, Hailey, Rachel, Jilly, Kallie, and Katie.

Whether it’s supporting Force Volleyball, the Wolverines girls’ youth hockey team, or other grassroots initiatives, HarveStaff is committed to investing in programs that make a difference.
