Elena Ronquillo
Contractor Liaison
Tell us a little about yourself and your role at HarveStaff.
I am Elena Ronquillo, your dedicated contractor liaison at HarveStaff.
My professional background includes 20 years in education, sales, and customer engagement, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of client needs and effective communication strategies. With degrees in Bachelor in Secondary Education and Master of Arts in Education, both major in English, I am committed to providing exceptional support to HarveStaff’s contractors. I am passionate about ensuring a positive and productive experience for everyone I work with.
I have always loved communicating with people and with my role here at HarveStaff, I make sure that I prioritize our contractors’ needs to foster trust and a strong foundation and client relations.
How did you get started in your current position?
I was referred to the company by my former colleague Kimberly Gorpido who is now our Lead Contractor Liaison. She told me about the role, and I was particularly drawn to the position because I am genuinely passionate about helping people succeed. My years of experience and educational background has prepared me well for this role, and I knew it was a perfect fit.
What inspired you to join HarveStaff, and what keeps you motivated here?
From my job interview with Celeste Glass and Tatiana Handy to my initial interactions with the team, I was impressed by the people, culture, values, team spirit, and commitment to diversity. I felt that my own values aligned with theirs, and I was excited to be part of a team that is so passionate about what they do.
What drives me is seeing the positive impact of my work on the contractors’ experiences. Knowing that I’ve helped resolve an issue, answered a question, or simply made someone’s day a little easier greatly motivates me.
What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your job?
It’s rewarding to earn the trust of the contractors. When they know they can rely on me for support and honest communication, it creates a strong sense of connection and makes my job more fulfilling.
It’s also rewarding to know that my work contributes to the overall success of HarveStaff. By supporting the contractors, I’m helping the company achieve its goals and build a strong reputation.
Can you share a challenge you’ve faced in your career and how you overcame it?
During my tenure here at HarveStaff, managing the open enrollment period last September 2024 for HarveStaff’s large number of contractors presented a significant challenge. The sheer volume of contractors, coupled with the necessary preparations and post-enrollment setup verification, created a demanding and time-sensitive situation. This required meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy to ensure a smooth enrollment process.
Despite the challenges, I successfully navigated the process by leveraging available resources such as the instructional videos and document guides prepared by my superiors, by proactively seeking clarification with the help and support of my managers and team lead, by practicing thoroughness and attention to detail by taking notes and remaining focused throughout the process and lastly, by implementing an efficient review process by double checking setups to ensure accuracy.
What skills or strengths do you believe have helped you succeed in your role?
There are several skills and strengths that are crucial for me to demonstrate and continuously develop to help me succeed in my role as a contractor liaison. Some of the key ones are communication, problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as adaptability and resilience.
How do you stay organized and productive in your daily work?
Staying organized and productive as a contractor liaison means finding the right system, harmony, and consistency to achieve positive results. Here are some of the practices I do to ensure being organized and productive with my daily work: Maintaining a Daily Tracker via Excel, utilizing MS Team’s calendar and planner, assigning tasks and creating cases via CRM, reviewing my to-do list and progress, implementing effective email management, creating templates for FAQs, reflecting on reviews, seeking feedback, and most importantly maintaining work-life balance.
What’s your approach to working with your team members and fostering collaboration?
We begin with shared goals and a clear understanding of our purpose, which guides our team’s efforts. Regular check-ins ensure alignment, keep us updated on progress, and provide a form to collaboratively address any challenges. Mutual support and teamwork are integral to our culture. We also prioritize the development and maintenance of shared resources and uphold professional conduct in all communications.
What advice would you give to someone starting out at HarveStaff or in your field?
I only have 3 main pieces of advice. First, communication is key. Excellent communication both verbally and in writing is paramount to a contractor liaison. Second, learn the HarveStaff way, take the time to understand HarveStaff’s specific processes, culture, and values. Every company does things a little differently, so take notes and learn to adapt how they do things. Third, find a mentor. Learning from experienced colleagues can accelerate your growth.
What do you enjoy most about working at HarveStaff?
I truly appreciate the collaborative and supportive team environment. I never felt alone in navigating complex tasks as my superiors and other team members are always willing to extend a helping hand.
We also celebrate each other’s successes, big or small. As a matter of fact, it was such an unforgettable experience when I was voted to win the Rising Star Award last quarter. It only proves that when we love what we do and feel valued, it reflects our performance and success.
Looking ahead, what are your goals for 2025—both personally and professionally?
For 2025, my personal goals include establishing and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle, as well as making demonstrable progress towards the acquisition of a residential property.
On the other hand, my professional goals encompass consistently achieving excellent contractor reviews, engaging in continuous professional development, and pursuing opportunities for career advancement.
Dianna Kellam
Senior Seed Technician
Tell us a little about yourself and your role at HarveStaff.
My name is Dianna Kellam, and I am employed by HarveStaff as a Senior Seed Technician in Carman, Manitoba.
How did you get started in your current position?
As an American residing in Canada, I often get asked how I ended up here. After all, why would anyone trade four seasons for two? The answer is simple—I married a Canadian.
Once my work permit arrived, I began seeking employment, and that’s when HarveStaff found me. I was hired in the fall for the harvest season, despite having no prior knowledge of the job. However, I was eager to learn and contribute in any way possible. Fortunately, I was a quick learner and was mentored by some amazing Bayer staff who entrusted me with projects and responsibilities.
What inspired you to join HarveStaff, and what keeps you motivated here?
I started in 2019 as a novice and have since grown into a seasoned seed technician. Over the years, I have gained skills in properly cleaning, treating, and counting canola seeds, harvesting canola and soybeans, and taking scientific notes in soybean fields. I can also clean, treat, and distinguish hilum colors of soybeans.
Each spring and fall bring new challenges for us as seed technicians, with tight deadlines to ensure our seeds are planted and harvested on time. Knowing that farmers and scientists rely on our work to develop quality products is incredibly satisfying and keeps me motivated.
What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your job?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the teamwork and collaboration that is required to accomplish our tasks. Being an employee of HarveStaff has introduced me to some of the most important people in my life outside of my family. The professional relationships and connections I’ve built are invaluable.
Can you share a challenge you’ve faced in your career and how you overcame it?
Every season presents new challenges, from weather conditions to production deadlines. There is always pressure to meet expectations, but strong teamwork and problem-solving help us navigate these difficulties. By staying adaptable and open to learning, I’ve been able to overcome obstacles and grow in my role.
What’s your approach to teamwork and collaboration?
Success in this role depends on strong teamwork, clear communication, and a willingness to support one another. I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible coworkers, mentors, and management who create a positive and cooperative work environment.
What do you enjoy most about working at HarveStaff?
The people I work with and the sense of accomplishment in delivering a quality product make my job fulfilling. I also appreciate the opportunities HarveStaff provides for community involvement.
Recently, I had the chance to represent HarveStaff at a girls’ youth hockey tournament in my local community. It was an exciting experience to present medals to the winning team on behalf of HarveStaff, and I look forward to more opportunities to give back to the community in the future.
Our HarveStaff Family Grows:
Celebrating One Year with Baby Addyson and Baby Kara
As we step into 2025, we’re thrilled to reflect on the joy we’ve shared over the past year with the newest members of our HarveStaff family!
In November 2023, we welcomed Baby Addyson Nikole Bachman into the world, weighing 8lb 12oz. Big sister Annabelle is already showing her love for her baby sister, and the family shared countless moments of gratitude and happiness, just in time for Thanksgiving.
Then, in December 2023, we celebrated the arrival of Baby Kara Anne Glass, born to proud parents Amelia and Andrew Glass. With Kara’s birth, Celeste Glass, our President and Owner, now has her 9th grandchild! As Celeste beautifully says, “Each baby is a precious package from God to love.”
It’s been a year of joy, growth, and blessings, and we’re so grateful to share these special moments with our HarveStaff family.
As we continue to celebrate life’s precious moments, we’d love to hear your good news too! If you have any updates about your family or suggestions for organizations or initiatives we could sponsor, please reach out to Rose Smith at rose.smith@harvestaff.com.

New Year, New You: Prioritize Your Wellness This Year
As we step into a new year full of opportunities, it's the perfect time to focus on something truly priceless: your health. At HarveStaff, we believe in supporting every team member in achieving their best self—both at work and beyond. Let’s make 2025 the year of wellness!
Schedule Your Wellness Exams Routine health check-ups are essential for early detection and prevention of potential health concerns. Whether it’s an annual physical, dental cleaning, or vision check, these exams can help you stay proactive about your health. If it’s been a while since your last visit, now is the time to schedule those appointments and start the year off right.
Review Your W-4 for Tax Purposes The start of a new year is also a good time to review your W-4 tax withholding form. Changes in your personal or financial situation—such as getting married, having a child, or taking on a second job—can impact how much tax is withheld from your paycheck. Updating your W-4 ensures you’re on track and avoiding surprises come tax season. If you need assistance, Rafaela, your Contractor Liaison, is here to help.
Did You Move Recently? If you’ve changed your address or phone number, make sure your information is up-to-date in our records. Keeping this information current helps us ensure seamless communication and delivery of important documents, like W-2 forms. Rafaela will help you update your details.
Do You Need to Update Your Emergency Contact? Life changes happen, and it’s important to ensure that we have the correct emergency contact information on file. Take a moment to review and update your emergency contact to ensure we can reach someone you trust in case of an urgent situation. Contact Rafaela to update.
Small Steps, Big Impact While wellness exams are a great starting point, consider adopting other healthy habits to improve your overall well-being. Here are a few ideas:
Move More: Incorporate physical activity into your daily routine, whether it’s a brisk walk, yoga, or a gym session.
Eat Mindfully: Fuel your body with balanced, nutritious meals and stay hydrated throughout the day.
Rest Well: Prioritize quality sleep to recharge and improve focus.
Practice Self-Care: Make time for activities that reduce stress and bring you joy.
Together, let’s make 2025 a year of health, happiness, and success. By taking care of yourself, you’re not only enhancing your own life but also contributing to a more vibrant and productive workplace. Here’s to a healthy start to the New Year!
